================= lie response form ================= by Andrew Main (Zefram) 2006-03-26 abstract -------- In the manner of the popular standard forms for response to common situations, a form is presented to respond to someone who has lied. lie response form ================= You have recently lied about __________ to [ ] me [ ] the entire world [ ] yourself [ ] other: __________ In so doing you have breached [ ] generally-accepted moral standards [ ] moral standards that you yourself have promoted [ ] and claimed to adhere to [ ] the British Code of Advertising, Sales Promotion and Direct Marketing [ ] the contract between us [ ] the law [ ] Companies Act 1989 [ ] Data Protection Act 1998 [ ] Property Misdescriptions Act 1991 [ ] Trade Descriptions Act 1968 [ ] other: __________ [ ] your mandate [ ] other: __________ You have attempted to justify your lie on the grounds that [ ] a similar statement used to be true [ ] everyone else is lying [ ] it concerns something that you find unimportant [ ] though it is important to others [ ] it gives an accurate impression [ ] it induces behaviour that you find desirable, namely [ ] buying your product/service [ ] permitting you to do something that you have difficulty justifying truthfully [ ] sleeping with you [ ] voting for you [ ] it is (part of) an advertisement [ ] it is easier to understand than the truth [ ] although there are equally understandable true statements [ ] the truth is actually simpler than your lie [ ] it makes your victim(s) more [ ] comfortable [ ] docile [ ] happy [ ] scared [ ] lying is fun [ ] in this case [ ] in general [ ] most people won't understand it [ ] but actually they do [ ] the truth is unpopular [ ] you didn't really mean it [ ] you don't understand it [ ] you want it to be true [ ] you hope it will be a self-fulfilling prophecy [ ] you wanted to avoid revealing someone else's lie [ ] even though it had already been revealed [ ] you were not in possession of the true facts [ ] the facts were not available to you [ ] you couldn't be bothered to research [ ] you weren't expecting anyone to examine the details [ ] your victim(s)'s belief in the lie is [ ] amusing [ ] convenient [ ] cute [ ] part of your plans Furthermore, [ ] everything you say sounds like a lie [ ] you are a bad liar [ ] you are an idiot [ ] you have attempted a cover-up [ ] you were told in advance that you would be caught [ ] your credibility is now zero [ ] your justification appears to itself be a lie [ ] your victim(s) knew you were lying [ ] and you were aware of this As a result [ ] I am taking my business elsewhere [ ] even though you are a monopoly [ ] I do not wish to know you [ ] I will never vote for you [ ] or your party [ ] I am considering legal action [ ] civil [ ] criminal
