Who Am I?

Well, I'm generally interested in computers, mostly in programming in C and fiddling with Unices (SunOS, Linux etc) in general. The two major jobs I've had so far have been for ISPs, the first for Mersinet Internet Ltd, an ISP based in Liverpool, UK. The other was with Demon Internet. I'm currently unemployed and likely to stay that way, due to some medical problems.

I have some small bits of code of my own making available here.

I have a load of Magic: The Gathering cards that I no longer use, and am interested in selling, click here for listings.

I love many forms of music, anything from Nine Inch Nails and Marilyn Manson, through R.E.M. and U2, to Sarah McLachlan and Lisa Loeb. I'll sort out more of a list here sometime, probably including a list of my CDs.

On a completely different note, I LOVE Cats! In fact one of my best friends ever was Pepi.

Unfortunately I don't have much of a social life, in large due to suffering at least the symptoms of Avoidant(Anxious) Personality Disorder, although I've not actually been diagnosed with it (yet).

(NB: This thing has gone pay-for if you want full results, see the following one for a similar thing that's still free.) I'm most definitely an INXX, INTP the last time I test (March 2001), INFJ the previous time. Those last two are so 50/50 in me. For INFJ see this explanation to find out what it means. That page has links to the other types as well.

On a slightly different note I'm -3.62(Left), -4.41(Libertarian) on the Political Compass test, last tested August 2002.

I have a bunch of random tests results too, which I add to whenever I come across a new one that I can be bothered to take.

Where You'll Find Me On The 'Net

Here's the obligatory list of places on the net that you may find me, usually under the name Athanasius, variations noted below.

Also, I play some on-line games. This started really with Quake World Team Fortress, although that's mostly a dead thing now. I then moved on to play Q3F, a similar mod based on the Quake3 engine.

At various times I've also played online strategy/empire-building games such as Planetarion, and for the first 3 months of its European life I played Dark Age of Camelot, an on-line, 3D MUD-like game. gave up on that due to the need for lots of social interaction to really get anywhere in it, something that doesn't fit will with my anxiety problems.

For a long time I played lots of Battlefield 1942, an FPS (first person shooter) based in World War 2. What it boils down to is 2 teams of upto 32 players each using planes, tanks, jeeps, and on foot to fight each other. There's a couple of main game modes, CTF (capture the flag) and 'conquest' which has to do with taking and holding control points on the maps. All great fun, and if I got bored with the main game there's a mod for it called Desert Combat which puts modern aircraft, vehicles and weapons onto the extant maps.

An honourable mention goes to the Rainbow 6: Ravenshield multi-player demo which I've spent HOURS playing at a time. I really prefer to be nice and awake for it though as it's very much a 'twitch' game where you need to be shooting at split-second notice. I'm definitely pondering buying this, we'll see how finances go.

Since February 2005 I've also been an on-again, off-again World of Warcraft player. Although I started life mostly on the Bloodscalp (PvP) server as a Human Paladin (and thus on the Alliance side) it wasn't long before I defected not only to a 'Normal' server without the fear of being ganked, but also to the Horde Faction. Thus you'll now find me playing on Turalyon, Horde side, with my main being Athunt, an Undead Rogue.

I took many breaks from WoW, ranging from a few weeks, through 3 months several times, to 5.5 months during mid 2007. During my time playing on Turalyon I was mostly in the guild Novus Initium having helped form it out of the ashes of The Burning Horde. However, in September 2008 events occurred that lead me to leave NI along with some others and as of the date of writing (mid-November 2008) I'm a member of Eternal Shadows.

Here are various pictures of friends, fleeting acquaintances, and meets I've been to over the years:

End Note

Oh yes, you may have noticed a lack of fancy icons and whatnot, and certainly graphics anywhere but where its obvious you're going to get them. That's 'cos one of my pet peeves is people who put massive images on their home pages, which then take AGES to view and REALLY piss me off *8-P.
