I actually agree with most of what you are saying, but I am not sure why we should be afraid to criticise (and hopefully build on this criticism to make improvements in the future) what we have already. If the water situation was as bad as people are suggesting (again let me re-iterate, I wasnt there and I am not specifically having a go at the provision of water, this tournament nor the TD) then what is wrong with suggesting that we should be able to expect and demand a consistent service for our entry fee?
 
Again - I am in favour of TD's making a profit so long as when I go to the tournament I am satisfed that my experience is a good one. If the TD's are pulling in 5k as was suggested by the Sometimes Angry Aussie then surely we can dontate a little to the Scouts or someone to help with the water/food/schedule whatever thereby improving our experience and benefitting the community at large (i'm not suggesting that is the best solution, just that it appears there are a number of options open to us to improive things). If the TD can still walk away with £4k+ then good on them - I have no complaints. 
 
My point is that we should not be afraid of criticism - perhaps we should embrace it and see what we can do better next time.

Oh goody, another re-hash of this old beauty (no pun intended Haman!) of a
topic.



In summary...plentiful water = desirable, a multitude of travel options =
desirable, a schedule planned years in advance = desirable, a player on your
team who can land the pull in that miniscule 100x40m area = desirable, crowd
for the final = who gives a...etc.



Things could be better no doubt, but what hasn't changed in recent years is
the lack of people willing to step up and organise Tour events (in fact it
has probably reduced since I started playing). The position of having an
event, or a Tour rather than no event, or no Tour, surely cannot be
disputed, or maybe it can...



What we as a community don't seem to realise is that part of being a
community (and in several respects the best community I am part of) requires
each individual to contribute to that, or at least a significant minority to
do so for a period of time. You can apply all the pressure you like on the
UKUA or TDs but from the UKUA point of view we NEED multiple options for
every Tour event before we can truly apply pressure and DEMAND this wish
list.


Given that it seems a majority of the community aren't willing to put the
effort to tidy up their rubbish, I can't see that they'd be willing to
organise an event. Similarly if no one outside of the community has heard of
the silly 'sport' you play they're unlikely to organise an event for you. So
there you have it...we're screwed (and not in the environmentally damaging way
that produces babies), but maybe I'm getting cynical in my old age.

PS I once ran a hop-scotch tournament at a local girls school where all the
money was put into a fund for the orphaned chicks whose mum was used to
provide suitable nutrition for the girls during the tournament to avoid any
health and safety issues. I've already got a medal, but thanks for offering...
