[BD] Squad Sizes

I think one of the greatest things about ultimate is the fact that it is
inclusive. Anyone can play, regardless of physical fitness or skill
level. No limits on squad sizes means that everyone might get a chance
to play. Generally, the best players are picked and play most points but
many other players get a look in too. When I first started playing, I
wasn't very good (still not!) and wasn't particularly fit, but got good
experience playing at tournaments with reasonably large squads.

High quality teams quite often have smaller squads, because they work
better when the same players play together and know eachothers games. In
response to the point about more turnovers, this doesnt make the game
more exciting, it makes it lower quality, due to tired players and
sloppy play!

The only advantage I can see from limiting squad sizes is, possibly, a
physically fitter, higher quality team giving a better performance. And
in response to Adam Kay -

"I am with Dave on limiting the squad sizes to a
sensible number. Out of interest, is there any other
team sport where there is no upper limit to the size
of a competing squad or is ultimate unique in this
respect?"

Ultimate is unique in this respect, but ultimate is unique is many other
respects too - no referee, spirit of the game etc - and I think most
players would like to keep it that way. I certainly would!
