[BD] GCSE Short Course PE with Ultimate

My son is starting his GCSEs this year and as he is attending a sports 
college short course PE is mandatory. Does anyone have any experience of 
using Ultimate as the team sport component? Does the sport chosen have 
to be Sports Council recognised? So far we have had several different 
opinions on this but nothing definitive.
