Fysh.Org Email Statistics

/bin/bash: :n: command not found Introduction

This page contains, and links to, certain statistics to do with the Fysh.Org email service. At this time these are primarily graphs from data about why we have rejected messages at SMTP RCPT time, i.e. anti-spam measures.

RCPT Reject Graphs

These graphs are generated from data that comes from exim's mainlog once a day. The counts for various 'rejected RCPT' reasons are recorded using rrdtool. Subsequently the following graphs are generated. rrd is set to record up to 5 years data, one data point per day. Note that the scripts for this run in the early morning, UK time, and as such the data for any given day is actually that for the period starting at approximately 06:30 UK time and running until that time the next day.

NB: The 'unrecognised-lines' count is usually made up entirely of rejections due to user-defined aliases utilising exim's ':fail:' target. This means the reason is whatever the user defines. Experience shows these are mostly of the form "I closed this account due to spam", but may also simply be of the form "this account no longer exists". However, do note that 'relay not permitted' will also fall into this category. It's usually rare, but there have been instances of botnets attempting mass-relay at times.
